Guyana to compete at Suriname Invitational Golf Tournament
Guyana has been invited to compete at an Invitational Golf Tournament in Suriname next month.
This year's Republic Bank Golf Invitational Tournament will be staged this year at the GolfClub course in Paramaribo, Suriname from Saturday October 8 to Sunday October 9.
Top golfers across Guyana typically participate annually in this event.
We most recently participated in 2019 when Guyana sent a 12-member team that claimed five podium finishes, including a first place in the B flight.
The Invitational is a Stableford Tournament played over 36 holes.
Stableford is a very common scoring system in golf whereby points are awarded on each hole according to how the player does against their own handicap.
Golfers will compete in five handicap flights. For the men there will be the 0-13, 14-24 and 25-30.
Senior Men’s handicap will be 0 and up.
For the women there will be the 0-22 flight and 23-36 flights.
Prizes and trophies will be rewarded per handicap flight at the end of the tournament.
Registration closes on Tuesday October 4th with the tournament restricted to 90 players. The entrance fee is US$200 per golfer.
Registration is being facilitated through the email gcpbm.tournaments@gmail.com or by contacting Sarah Chehin on (597) 8252255
