Guyanese man kills wife on New Year’s Day in Suriname

The police in neighbouring Suriname are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 32 year old Lisa Charran who was fatally stabbed by her Guyanese husband earlier today.

According to sources in Suriname, the incident took place at about 02:30 hours today in Nieuw Amsterdam in Commewijne Suriname, where the couple shared a rented house with their three children.

MTV News Update understands that the woman was discovered lifeless by her eldest daughter who told police that she heard her mother screaming and upon investigating, she found her lying on the floor covered in blood with several stab wounds.

The Nieuw Amsterdam police were called to the scene after the incident to conduct their investigations. However, there was no trace of the suspect. Ranks found and seized a kitchen knife at the crime scene which they believe was used to commit the crime.

The landlord who shares the same building also indicated to law enforcement officials that he was unaware of what took place.
