“I hope you all are happy when I am dead,” were the words of Mikhail Mc Lennon after being asked if he was pretending to be a doctor.

On Tuesday morning, a post by the President and Founder of the Guyana Cancer Foundation, Bibi Saeedah Akhtar Hassan, took social media by storm.

The statement read, “Guyana Cancer Foundation wishes to notify the General Public that Mikhail Radius McLennan is not a doctor, and they are no records showing he is registered at Medical Council of Guyana.”

Hassan explained that she took him as a volunteer with the Foundation, but people began questioning his license to practice medicine, and several persons confirmed that he was not a doctor.

“I questioned him about his Medical Degree, and he refused to send a copy of it to us. He said he is working as a Medical Officer/Pharmacist at ROK Pharmacy, and there is no such Pharmacy exist! He no longer affiliated with Guyana Cancer Foundation,” Hassan concluded.

When contacted for his side of the story, Mc Lennon, who couldn’t hold back his tears, denied the allegation.

“The point is, that is not true…I hope you all are happy when I am dead,” he remarked. When questioned why he would say that, a tearful Mc Lennon said, “Everybody just targeting me, I don’t know what they want.”

When questioned if he did attend the University of Guyana or Texila American University, Mc Lennon said, “Sir, are you calling me to report on me, or are you calling to see if I am feeling better? Because this is not working for me.”

He said, “This is not true, and I will fight this.”

In his Curriculum Vitae, Mc Lennon stated that he attended Queen’s College, Texila American University, followed by the University of Guyana.

He also stated in the document that he holds a “Degree in medicine,” a Diploma in Theatre Arts, and a certificate in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher.

According to the CV, he worked at various government institutions, including the New Amsterdam Regional Hospital, New Amsterdam Family Health Center, Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), and ROK Pharmacy, among others.

When contacted, the Medical Council of Guyana noted that Mc Lennon is not a part of the Council’s database. Texila also confirmed that they never had a student by that name.

In 2018, 43-year-old Prem Chand was charged for pretending to be a doctor and attempting to solicit money from a businessman for an open-heart surgery.
