‘I sell some, boil the rest for my son’s asthma’ – man nabbed with ganja tells police
A businessman from Five Miles, Arakaka, North West District (NWD), Region One, was taken into custody on Friday after police discovered nearly 500 grams of marijuana during a cordon and search operation.
The operation, conducted at the residence and business premises of Errol Belgrave, 55, resulted in the confiscation of multiple bags containing marijuana.
The exercise carried out around 7:25h, involved a party of policemen who received Belgrave’s consent to search his shop.
While searching, officers noticed a brown box on the floor containing several black plastic bags. Upon further inspection, they found a large black plastic bag filled with what appeared to be marijuana.
Belgrave initially downplayed the discovery, stating, “It’s just a small amount I got, buddy.”
However, continued examination of the box revealed two additional black plastic bags. One contained numerous small transparent ziplock bags with marijuana, while the other held another significant quantity of the substance.
Upon being informed of the suspicion and offence, Belgrave remarked, “I do sell some of this thing, and the rest I do boil for my son cause he’s trouble with asthma.”
He was arrested, and the narcotics were seized and transported to the Arakaka Police Outpost, where they were weighed in Belgrave’s presence, totalling 494.7 grams.
Following his arrest, Belgrave submitted a statement under caution. Police have placed him in custody, and further investigations are ongoing.
