"Known character" remanded for allegedly snatching schoolgirl’s phone

Orin Favourite

Orin Favourite, called “Solo,” was remanded to prison for allegedly stealing a cellphone from a Bishops’ High School student.

Favourite of Rosemary Lane, South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was arraigned before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and denied the charge.

The charge alleged that he stole the victim's cell phone on January 20, 2022, at Carmichael Street, Georgetown.

The court prosecutor opposed Favourite being released on bail, given that he is before the court for a similar crime. As such, the Magistrate upheld the prosecutor’s objection and remanded the accused to prison until March 28, 2022.

Reports are that the victim was standing outside of her school on Carmichael Street with her friends on the day in question when Favourite snatched her cellphone.

The incident was caught on a nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera, which went viral on social media.

Moreover, the accused is presently before the court on two-armed robbery charges committed on July 30, 2021. In 2017, he was sentenced to five years imprisonment for snatching a woman’s gold chain.
