Labourer, 18, dies after losing control of his bike on Wowetta Main trail
Azeez Gulab, an 18-year-old labourer, is now dead after he reportedly lost control of his motorcycle and “ran off” the Wowetta Main trail on Monday.
According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the incident occurred between 03:40 and 06:00h.
According to reports, Gulab had been at Aranaputa Ground, socialising with friends while watching football and consuming alcohol.
The father of the deceased told investigators that his son left the ground around 03:00hrs, riding his motorcycle CL 5760 east along the northern side of the Wowetta trail at a high speed.
It was during this journey that Gulab reportedly lost control of the motorcycle, causing him to veer off the trail and sustain injuries.
The noise of the accident alerted nearby villagers, who discovered Gulab’s motionless body lying next to his motorcycle.
Medical assistance was sought, and a doctor pronounced him dead at the scene. The police, along with concerned citizens, transported the body to the Lethem Regional Hospital Mortuary, where a Post Mortem Examination (PME) will be done.
