Labourer arrested with 76 grams of marijuana

A Labourer from Hague, West Coast Demerara (WCD), was Saturday arrested with 76 grams of suspected marijuana.

Reports are that police ranks on mobile patrol at Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo (EBE), saw the man in an empty lot holding a bulky black plastic and acting suspiciously.

One of the ranks requested to carry out a search on his person. The suspect dropped the bulky plastic bag at his feet, and it was searched.

Inside the bag was a sheet of newspaper containing several small transparent zip-lock plastic bags, each containing a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis.

The labourer was arrested and escorted to the Leonora Police Station, where the suspected cannabis was weighed in his presence and amounted to 76 grams. The man has been placed into custody while the investigation continues.
