Labourer hospitalised after being chopped during argument


A 56-year-old labourer is hospitalised at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital after being chopped on Friday by a cane harvester during an argument.


The injured man has been identified as Lawrence Rodrigues of Rose Hall Town, Corentyne.

Reports are that Rodrigues was attacked after he reportedly removed a bicycle from in front of the suspect’s hard.

This triggered the suspect, who armed himself with a cutlass and dealt the victim several chops about his body. In a video seen by MTV News Update, the victim could be seen using the bicycle as a shield as the victim chops him.


After the brutal attack, Rodrigues was rushed to the Port Mourant Public Hospital but was later transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital. To this end, an investigation was launched, and the suspect was arrested.
