Linden woman, 38, dies after car topples several times on Rockstone Trail

Dead: Julie Higgins

Julie Higgins, a 38-year-old resident of One Koker Squatting Area, Wismar, Linden, lost her life on Sunday after the car she was travelling in toppled several times along the Rockstone Trail.

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) said in a statement that the incident occurred around 15:35h and involved motor car PJJ 9024, which was driven by Kenrick Johnson of Central Amelia's Ward, Linden.

Police reports indicate that Johnson was driving at high speed when he lost control of the vehicle after negotiating a left bend. The car flipped several times, ejecting Higgins, who was found lying motionless a distance from the vehicle.

Public-spirited persons rushed both Johnson and Higgins to the Linden Hospital Complex. Unfortunately, Higgins was pronounced dead on arrival.

Johnson, who sustained injuries to his shoulder and complained of body pains, remains under observation at the hospital.

A breathalyser test conducted on Johnson revealed no alcohol in his system. Higgins’ body has been taken to Jestso Funeral Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is pending.
