Linden woman robbed, raped
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has launched an investigation into a brutal armed robbery and rape that took place early Monday morning at a home in Linden, Region 10.
The incident occurred around 01:30h when a 42-year-old housewife was attacked in her residence.
According to police reports, the assailant stole several valuable items from the victim, including two gold chains valued at $250,000, one pair of gold earrings valued at $200,000, one gold hand band valued at $200,000, one black and green flashlight worth $5,000 and $5,000 in cash.
Police officers arrived at the scene at approximately 02:00h, shortly after the attack was reported.
Initial investigations revealed that the victim lives in a two-storey wooden and concrete house enclosed by a fenced yard.
The housewife told investigators that on the evening of Sunday, November 17, 2024, she went to bed around 20:30h but inadvertently left her back door unlocked.
She was startled awake around 01:30h to find a male intruder inside her home. The suspect, described as being around six feet tall with a slim build and wearing short blue pants and a short-sleeved blue jersey, allegedly grabbed her from behind and threatened her with a knife.
The victim recounted that the assailant demanded cash and jewellery. When she told him she had no money, the intruder reportedly became agitated and forced her downstairs.
He then threw her onto a mattress on the floor and sexually assaulted her for approximately four minutes.
Following the assault, the attacker continued to demand valuables from the victim. Fearing for her life, she handed over the gold jewellery and cash she had in her possession.
The suspect then fled the scene on foot through the back door. Police detectives have since processed the scene and are reviewing CCTV footage from the area in an effort to identify and apprehend the suspect.
