Man, 34, shot in neck, robbed of gold chain in Sophia

Kwasi Lord, 34, of Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was shot in the neck and robbed of a gold chain while going to purchase food in Sophia, Greater Georgetown, on Sunday.

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) reported that Lord was walking along Red Road in Sophia at around 8:10 h to purchase food when the incident occurred.

According to the GPF, Lord was confronted by an unknown armed assailant, who shot him in the neck and forcibly took his gold chain before fleeing the scene.

Lord’s wife, along with a friend, rushed him to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. Medical officials have reported that his condition is stable. An investigation has been launched.
