Man, 45, dies after electric bike collides with truck
A 45-year-old man was on Monday killed after a motor lorry collided with the electric bike he was riding along the Mandela Avenue.
Dead is Hawatt Greenidge. The fatal accident occurred at about 21:25h and involved motor lorry GZZ 8550 driven by Fazal Mohammed, a Trinidadian national.
The truck driver told Police that he was proceeding along the Mandela Avenue in the same direction as Greenidge when the truck’s left rear wheel collided with the cyclist.
As a result, Greenidge was thrown onto the roadways, and the truck’s wheel drove over his head.
The truck driver continued driving but was informed by a motorcar driver that he had collided with the man.
The Police subsequently incepted the motor lorry driver, and a breathalyser test showed no trace of alcohol in his system. Notwithstanding, he is in custody, assisting with the investigations.
