Man,52, dies after septic tank collapsed

Zheng Shun Liu, 52, was killed on Sunday after a septic tank that he was working inside collapsed at Eccles Industrial Site, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) said the incident occurred at about 09:55h. Shun Liu was an employee of L and P Construction company. He was working alone inside the septic tank, which is being built at a bond at Eccles Industrial Site, which is under construction.

It is alleged that the wall on the western side of the tank collapsed, pinning Shun Liu. His co-workers rendered assistance and managed to remove him from the tank. The Police and Emergency Medical Technicians were summoned. Shu Liu was examined at the site and pronounced dead.

Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators processed the scene, and the body was examined for marks of violence. Injuries were seen on the left side of Shun Liu’s body. The man’s body was escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, awaiting a post-mortem examination. Investigations are ongoing.
