Man charged with murder of stepson remanded to prison

Shawn Bobb, a construction worker of Independence Boulevard, Albouystown, Georgetown, was today remanded to prison for the murder of his 19-year-old stepson, Isaiah Edwards.


Bobb was arraigned before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and was not required to plead to the indictable charge of murder, which occurred on January 26.

He was remanded to prison until February 11, 2022.


The court heard that on the day in question, the accused began to abuse the teen’s mother because she had not finished cooking.


Police said that the man then picked up a knife and began to attack the woman, causing the teenager to intervene. Both the teen and his mother were wounded during the ordeal.


However, Edwards had tested positive for covid-19 and died a few days later at the COVID-19 facility at Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara (ECD).


Bobb, after committing the crime fled the scene and was arrested a few days later at Helena Number One, Mahaica, disguised as a woman.
