Forty-six-year-old Ryvan Francis was on Monday remanded to prison over the 2012 murder of former Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) employee Levoy Taljit.

Francis, formerly of Lot 4B Sharma Alley, Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara (EBD), was hauled before Magistrate Wanda Fortune in the Diamond/ Golden Grove Magistrates’ Court.

He was not required to plea to the charge, which stated that between December 23 and 27, 2012, at Soesdyke/Linden Highway, he murdered Taljit.

The 46-year-old man was remanded to prison, and October 9, 2024, has been set as the next court date for the disclosure of statements.

Francis was previously questioned in connection with Taljit’s disappearance in December 2013 after reportedly being found with some of the missing man’s belongings.

Taljit of Anira Street, Queenstown, was 25 years old at the time of his disappearance. He had left his home in his car, bearing registration number PNN 8315, to do Christmas shopping, but he had not been heard from since.
