Man wanted for murder in US arrested in Georgetown
A coordinated operation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and Special Branch led to the arrest of Rakeem Antonio Gilgeous, 33, who is wanted for murder in the United States.
Acting on the information received, law enforcement officers went to Lot 3451 Postal Housing Scheme, Georgetown, where Gilgeous was apprehended.
During a search of the premises, officers discovered a United States passport indicating that Gilgeous had entered Guyana on July 8, 2024, through the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA).
Gilgeous was subsequently escorted to the Alberttown Police Station and placed in custody. Authorities also found him in possession of US$12,000, which has been lodged at the police station.
