Man who inserted his finger into 7-year-old’s vagina jailed for 18 years
Juewell Williams, who was found guilty last month on two counts of raping a seven-year-old girl back in 2016, has been slapped with an 18-year jail sentence.
Justice Simone Morris-Ramlall imposed the sentence on Williams, 33, in the Demerara High Court.
The first count stated that between July 21 and 31, 2016, Williams engaged in sexual penetration with the child. It was further noted that between July 31 and June 6, 2018, he again engaged in sexual penetration with the minor.
MTV News Update had reported that between July 21 and 31, 2016, when the child was going to bed, Williams approached her and told her to be quiet. He took off her clothes and inserted his finger into her vagina. The girl told her mother what had transpired the following day, but she did nothing.
In the second incident, it was reported that the child was asleep when she felt someone playing with her vagina. When she woke up, she saw Williams over her, and he took his finger and inserted it into her vagina.
She told her mother again, who later rubbed pepper on her vagina. The mother sent her to live with her grandmother, and there, the story came out, and the Childcare and Protection Agency got involved.
Throughout his trial, Williams was represented by defence attorney Madan Kissoon, while State Counsel Muntaz Ali appeared on behalf of the prosecution.
