Man who was stabbed to the scrotum found not guilty of rape

A horse cart operator, who was stabbed to the scrotum by one of his ex-girlfriends after he allegedly raped her was today freed of the crime.


54-year-old Christopher Howes of Roxanne Burnham Gardens, Georgetown, was on trial before Justice Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the High Court for the offence of rape.


He had denied the charge, which alleged that on April 5, 2020, he engaged in sexual penetration with the woman without her consent.


It was reported that on April 5, the woman visited his residence, where he forcibly had sex with her. In her defence, the woman is alleged to have whipped out a knife and stabbed Howes to his scrotum.


Following the judge’s summation, the 12-member jury found Howes not guilty of the offence.
