Mechanic found guilty of raping woman sentenced to 36 years behind bars

Odingo Emmanuel, a mechanic was on Wednesday sentenced to 38 years behind bars for raping a 36-year-old woman in Region Seven in 2018.
Emmanuel, 48, who had initially pleaded not guilty to the charge was sentenced by Justice Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Suddie High Court. He will become eligible for parole after serving a minimum of 30 years.
It was reported that the woman returned home from a party and found her door open.
After entering the house, she was allegedly attacked and raped by Emmanuel. However, during the attack, her common-law husband returned home and rescued her.
Emmanuel reportedly escaped but he was arrested in 2019 and charged.
