‘Mice Man’ remanded over the shooting of six-year-old boy
Marlon Wilburg, called ‘Mice Man,’ was on Monday remanded to prison after he was slapped with an attempted murder charge.
The charge stemmed from a shooting on July 09, 2024, at Charles Street, Charlestown, Georgetown, that left six-year-old Jeremiah Gustave battling for his life at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Wilburg, a 29-year-old construction worker, was not required to plead to the indictable offence when he appeared before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman. He was remanded to prison, and the case was adjourned to August 19, 2024.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) had reported that on the day in question, the six-year-old was standing next to his 39-year-old mother, who is a food vendor, on the eastern side of Charles Street when Wilburg approached them on a black motorcycle with a gun in his hand.
As he approached the woman’s food stall, he allegedly discharged four rounds in the direction of a man known as ‘crab,’ who was standing not far from the six-year-old and his mother.
‘Crab’ reportedly began to run after he observed the accused and made good his escape. In the process, the six-year-old was shot, and he fell to the ground.
The child was picked up by his mother and taken to a city hospital, where he is receiving medical attention. Police had said too that two 9mm spent shells were recovered at the scene.
A wanted bulletin was issued for Wilburg and Odelle Garnette, who is said to be ‘crab.’
