Miner caught with over 4lbs of ganja in route 72 minibus

A 26-year-old miner was recently taken into custody after he was nabbed with 2.035 kilograms or about 4.5 pounds of marijuana in a minibus en route to Mahdia from Georgetown.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) said that ranks stopped the route 72 minibus with registration number BAF 4473 during an exercise at Mango Landing Police Outpost.
At the time of the stop, there were four passengers in the bus. A search was carried out on the passengers and their belongings, but nothing illegal was found.
While searching the engine compartment of the bus, two plastic-wrapped parcels, which, when removed, were checked and found to contain a quantity of marijuana.
The driver and passengers were questioned, and one of the passengers, a 26-year-old miner, claimed ownership of the narcotics found.
The 26-year-old was told of the offence committed, cautioned, and arrested. He was escorted along with the driver and cannabis to Mahdia Police Station. The 26-year-old remains in custody as the investigation continues.
