Miner granted $100,000 bail for possession of narcotics

51-year-old Derrick Cox, a miner of Lot 105 Light Street, Georgetown has been charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
The accused, who was arrested three days ago, was hauled before Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where he pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The court heard that police received a tip-off and went to Cox’s home at Imbaimadai where a search unearthed a quantity of seeds, leaves, and stems suspected to be cannabis Sativa stashed in a five-gallon bucket.
He was placed on $100,000 bail, and he will make another court appearance on March 14, 2022.
