A 17-year-old motorcyclist died on Saturday after colliding with a motorcar at Silver Hill Public Road, Linden-Soesdyke Highway.

Dead is Stanton Garraway of Lot Kairuni Village, Linden-Soesdyke Highway.

The fatal accident, which occurred at about 14:25h, involved hire car 5011, owned and driven by 50-year-old Augustine Klass.

Reports are that motorcycle CL 4409 was proceeding north along the western side of Silver Hill Public Road at an alleged fast rate of speed.

It is alleged that the hire car suddenly exited a trail and turned onto the Public Road and into the motorcyclist’s path. As a result, the motorcycle collided with the right-side front door of the hire car, resulting in Garraway being thrown onto the roadways.

He received head and body injuries, while the hire car driver also received injuries about his body.

The duo was picked up in a semi-conscious condition by public-spirited citizens and taken to the Linden Hospital for medical treatment.

However, the 17-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead on arrival, while Klass was admitted as a patient suffering from head injuries and was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further treatment.
