Motorcyclist, 23, dies following collision in Georgetown
A 23-year-old motorcyclist lost his life following a fatal collision at the junction of Croal Street and Winter Place, Georgetown, on Thursday, December 26, 2024.
The deceased, Mikel Blair of Lot 261 ‘D’ Field, Turkeyen, Georgetown, was involved in the accident with another motorcyclist, 27-year-old Tavel Jonas of Lot 101 Arapima Street, East La Penitence, Georgetown.
According to police, the accident occurred around 17:45h. The Brickdam Police Station was notified about a collision between two motorcycles at the location.
However, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said that when traffic officers responded to the scene, they found no evidence of the crash.
Shortly after 18:00h, the Georgetown Public Hospital Police Outpost informed the police that two individuals involved in an accident were at the hospital’s Emergency Unit.
Blair was discovered unconscious and receiving treatment but succumbed to his injuries at around 19:00h. His body is at the Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Jonas, who sustained a fractured right leg, was treated and later admitted to the hospital in stable condition.
