Motorcyclist killed in G/Town accident after driver failed to stop
An accident at the intersection of Cummings and Church Street, Georgetown, on Monday resulted in the death of motorcyclist Conal Anthony Husbands.
The accident, which occurred at approximately 06:15h, involved motor car PAF 3166, driven by Lee Holder, 47, and motorcycle CM 2986, driven by the now dead man.
Reports are that the motor car was heading north along the western drive lane of Cummings Street while Husbands was travelling east along the northern drive lane of Church Street.
The Police said that Holder’s motor car failed to stop at the ‘stop sign’ as it approached the intersection, resulting in a collision with the motorcycle.
The collision resulted in Husbands being thrown onto the northern parapet of Church Street, causing severe injuries.
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) arrived at the scene and transported Husbands to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was examined by medical staff.
Despite efforts to save him, Husbands succumbed to his injuries at approximately 13:00h. Holder was taken into custody to assist with the investigation.
