The National Milling Company of Guyana (NAMILCO) issued a statement on Tuesday evening saying that it has not increased the price of flour.
This comes after the price of flour in a number of neighbouring countries has spiked significantly over the past week.
"Anyone who insist on increasing prices without justification, will risk being reported to the Consumer Affairs Division of the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce," the flour company added.
NAMILCO however noted that there can be an increase in the price of imported flour.
In the meanwhile, the flour producer said it will continue to monitor the wheat price in an effort to reduce the cost of flour.
In March, NAMILCO announced an 15% increase in the flour price with the justification that the wheat price on the international market has risen.
