National boxing Coach conducts talent spotting exercise

The newly appointed Guyana Boxing Association National coach will be conducting a talent identification exercise in Linden this weekend.

National boxing Coach, Lennox Daniels, will head to Linden this weekend for the first of a series of Coaching programmes and talent spotting throughout the country.

Following his visit to the Mining Town, Daniels will head to Region 6 February 5th to 9th, along with Region 9.

His journey is also part of the Guyana Boxing Association’s plans to decentralize the sport and ensuring that every aspiring boxer is given a chance at developing their talents and gain exposure.

Daniels will also be working to intensify preparation for the March 22 to April 2 American Boxing Confederation (AMBC) Championships, to be held in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Olympian and Youth Commonwealth Games silver medalist, Keevin Allicock will lead the bunch, which includes a total of 8 boxers currently in training for the Elite Continental tournament.

The medalists in each of the 13-man and 12-woman weight categories, according to the AMBC, will receive prize money – US$10 000 for first place, US$5 000 for second and US$2500 for third place.
