The National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) will commence on Wednesday, July 6, and conclude on Thursday, July 7. This is according to an advisory issued by the Ministry of Education.

According to the advisory, English papers 1 and 2 will be written in the first half of the day on Wednesday, while Science papers one and two will be written in the afternoon. On Thursday, Mathematics and Social Studies, papers one and two, will be written in the morning and afternoon, respectively.

Some 16,000 students will be sitting this exam, which determines which secondary school they matriculate to.

The exam is usually held in the month of April but was pushed back in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Education Minister Priya Manickchand said that this exam would be prepared similarly to the 2021 examination, covering topics up to the Grade Five level. Last year, the examination was written in August and was postponed for nearly five months.
