Non-Pareil businessman dies after 'seizure’ at gas station

A 66-year-old businessman died on Thursday after suffering from a seizure at the Rubis Gas Station, Rupert Craig Highway.


Dead is Hamid Sharriff of Lot 113 Block 'XX' Non Pareil, East Coast Demerara (ECD). The incident occurred at about 13:30h.


Reports are that the businessman and his wife left home in their Toyota Tundra vehicle and went to the Rubis Gas Station at Rupert Craig Highway. While there, he proceeded to one of the gas pumps and began to refuel his vehicle, and soon after, he had a seizure and became motionless.


It was also revealed that Sharriff had a history of travelling with 'high cholesterol' and a heart-related condition prior to the seizure.


Medical professionals were immediately summoned to the scene, and the man was pronounced dead on the scene. His body is presently lying at the Jerrick's Funeral Home, awaiting a Post Mortem Examination (PME). Investigations are ongoing.
