Over 1,000 traffic violations in two days, tinted vehicles lead offences – GPF
In a continued effort to enforce traffic laws and curb road misuse, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) conducted traffic enforcement exercises across the country over two days, November 21 and 22, 2024.
The operation resulted in 1,353 cases, with the prohibition of tinted glass emerging as the most common offence, accounting for 248 violations.
Other prevalent offences recorded during the two-day operation included exceeding the speed limit (121), failure to wear a seatbelt (65), unlicenced drivers (32), faulty loading of load (47), and breach of prescribed fitness condition (44).
Lesser offences, such as unlighted motor vehicles, improper helmet use, and carrying pillion riders without safety helmets, were also recorded.
Region 4C recorded the highest number of cases (395), followed by Region 4B (385) and Region 3 (204). Some regions, such as Region 4A and Region 10, reported no cases during the operation.
It was noted that drivers were informed of the dos and don'ts as cases were made —all in an effort to curb errant road use.
