Pakuri Village (St Cuthbert’s Mission) will be hosting their Heritage Village Day on September 24, 2022, which will roll over to the 25th.
Toshao Timothy Andrews spoke with MTV News Update recently where he described the event as a ‘mega event’ that features many cultural activities.
According to the Toshao, from thirteen hours to sixteen hours, demonstrations showing how tibisiri is extracted, cassava processing, extracting the Tacoma worms from the trees and others.
“From 4PM (sixteen hours) to 6PM (eighteen hours) we’ll be having drinking competitions, piwari and fly competitions, fire bursting competition and other games of that nature," Andrews added.
The event will also feature entertainment that will run for 24 hours and will feature live bands from the coast and local bands. On September 25, there will be a heritage wash down.
Toshoa Andrews is encouraging persons who are interested to come and experience the rich cultural nature of the village. “Come and experience a cultural day, come and experience what it is like to be part of such a mega event, a culture event. 97% of the stuff that will be swelling to eat and drink will be cultural and traditional stuff,” he said.
Persons attending this event will be required to pay a fee upon entry to the village.
