Partially decomposed body of Berbice farmer found in house
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 53-year-old Heeralall, a cattle farmer of Lot 113 Palmyra Village, East Canje Berbice, which occurred between Monday and Thursday.
According to a female relative, on Sunday, her aunt, whose name was given as Chandradayo, left to visit her other relatives in Georgetown, leaving Heeralall at home alone.
She added that she visited her uncle on Monday, and he was alive and well. However, after she had not seen him for the past couple of days, she decided to visit his home.
Upon entering the yard, she claimed she started smelling a foul stench from the house. Further checks were made, and she found her uncle’s partially decomposed body lying on a bed in his room.
A report was made to the police, and upon arrival at the location, ranks examined the body for marks of violence. Still, due to the state of decomposition, it was difficult to ascertain.
The body was taken to the Bailey’s Funeral Home, awaiting a Post Mortem Examination (PME). Investigations are continuing.
