Partially decomposed body of pensioner found in home

The partially decomposed body of a pensioner was discovered at his Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara (ECD) home at about 17:45h on Friday.

The deceased was identified as 60-year-old Roystan Lam. He resided alone in a one-storey wooden structure and was last seen alive on March 29, according to the Guyana Police Force (GPF).

Commander of Police Division 4 'C' Senior Superintendent Khali Pareshram disclosed that at about 17:55h on the day in question, the dead man's cousin visited his residence and called several times but got no answer.

A foul smell was emanating from the house, and the Police were summoned; and they found the body of the deceased lying on his back.

The body was pronounced dead by a Doctor of the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) and was taken to the Merriman Funeral Parlour for storage.

“The home was not ransacked, and no foul play suspected. Several persons were questioned, and information received indicate that the deceased suffered from hypertension,” the GPF concluded in a statement. Investigations are in progress.
