Pensioner killed in Buxton hit-and-run accident

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has launched an investigation into a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred in the vicinity of Church of God Road, Buxton, East Coast Demerara (ECD) on Friday. 

The accident, which took place at about 23:00h, claimed the life of 62-year-old Adree Slowe, a resident of Lot 8 Vigilance South, ECD.

According to police reports, Slowe was crossing the road from the southern side to the northern when he was struck by a minibus bearing registration number BAC 4129, reportedly travelling east at high speed.

The minibus reportedly collided with Slowe and dragged him approximately 100 feet from the point of impact before fleeing the scene. Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) were called to the location, where they pronounced Slowe dead.

The body has been taken to Memorial Gardens Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
