PMTC Volleyball Club honours top players at Annual Award Ceremony
The Port Mourant Training Centre (PMTC) Volleyball Club on Saturday last held its annual awards ceremony to recognize outstanding players of 2021.
At the January 8th awards, a total of ten players were given accolades for their sterling performance over the past year.
Players given trophies were; Shemroy Ross, Devendra Latchman, Jared Jhingree, Ronaldo Bobb, Ravi Rampertab, Daniel Joseph, Levi Nedd Jr, Andy Rohoman, Nevesh Gurdin and Dequan Green.
Guyana Volleyball Federation President Levi Nedd noted the importance of rewarding these players, “why this is being done is because most of the players are predominantly apprentices from the training school.”
“Now most of these players, after they would have graduated they usually move on. So you find it’s really tough to keep the players. To keep them and honour them and so on, that’s why we do these awards. Those are the persons who would have been faithful to the club and would have stayed on and are participating with us.”, he added.
While these players were rewarded for their skill and commitment to the game, there was no volleyball player of the year named this time around as they have done in previous years.
