Police Force says shake-up of top brass was to "foster efficiency"

L-R: Assistant Commissioner of Police Errol Watts, Assistant Commissioner of Police Calvin Brutus and Assistant Commissioner of Police Ravindradat Budhram

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has undergone several management changes, and the law enforcement agency said in a statement late Thursday night that this move aims to enhance efficiency within the organisation.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Errol Watts has been removed from the Special Branch of the country’s premier law enforcement agency and replaced with Assistant Commissioner of Police Calvin Brutus. Watts is now responsible for Operations.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Ravindradat Budhram, who previously served as the Head of Operations, has now taken on the role of overseeing Administration.

“Relative to several social media posts and online news reports about a ‘shake-up’ in the top brass of the Guyana Police Force, please note that the rotation of officers is a management tool that is used to create and foster efficiency in an organisation,” the Police Force said.

Furthermore, the law enforcement agency also refuted the claims made by overseas-based Guyanese Rickford Burke that acting Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken and another senior officer were sent home following a probe by the Special Organised Crime Unit (SOCU).

“Please note that this is not true. This report is misleading and fake. Please be guided accordingly.”
