Police hunting for ‘Leo’ for questioning after ‘Chowmein Man’ found dead on fence

Dead: Deryck Sattan-Persaud

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is searching for an individual known only as ‘Leo’ in connection with the death of Deryck Sattan-Persaud, a 54-year-old resident of Industry, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Sattan-Persaud, also known as ‘Chowmein Man,’ was discovered on Tuesday at Fourth Street, Cummings Lodge, with part of his body embedded in the grill of a fence.

According to the GPF, a 64-year-old brush cutter operator who was weeding a yard in the area was approached by a man named ‘Leo.’

The man reportedly requested help to remove Sattan-Persaud from a fence. The brush cutter operator then found Sattan-Persaud unresponsive, with the upper portion of his body embedded in the grill of the fence.

Emergency services were immediately summoned to the scene, and a doctor from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation pronounced Sattan-Persaud dead.

While no details have been provided on the circumstances leading to Sattan-Persaud’s death, police are focusing their efforts on locating ‘Leo’ for questioning.

The man’s body has been transported to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination. The investigation is ongoing.
