Police issue wanted bulletin for man over Tiger Creek murder
As investigations into the murder of 29-year-old Rohit Hansraj, called "Master" of Wakenaam Island, Region Three, continue, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) has issued a wanted bulletin for Seon Russell for questioning over the heinous crime.
Russell's last known address is Tiger Creek, Essequibo River, and Alikie Village, Essequibo River.
Anyone with information that may lead to Russell's arrest is asked to make contact with the nearest police station.
"All information provided will be treated with the strictest confidence," the Police said.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) had stated that Hansraj and Russell both worked for Toolsie Persaud Logging Company as Operators in the Tiger Creek area, Essequibo River.
Reports are that at about 14:00h on the day in question, Hansraj and two other workers were consuming alcohol in the area when Russell allegedly approached one of them and accused him of "looking" at his wife.
According to the GPF, the now dead man intervened and managed to get Russell to return to his cabin.
Subsequently, Russell returned with a shotgun to the cabin, where he and the 29-year-old man became embroiled in an argument. The suspect discharged a round that struck Hansraj to his upper left shoulder area during the row.
He then escaped into some nearby bushes with the firearm. The Police were subsequently informed, and upon arrival at the scene, the peacemaker's body was seen lying face-up, clad in a blue trouser and a grey jersey.
The body was examined, and a gaping wound was seen on the upper left shoulder. The man's body was escorted to the Bartica Hospital Mortuary, awaiting a Post Mortem Examination (PME). The hunt for the suspect continues.
