Police recover firearm and matching ammunition at Crane village
At around 02:30 hrs today police recovered a .38 firearm along with three matching rounds at Crane West Coast Demerara.
According to the police, ranks were acting on information received and made their way to 'Chicken Man Sports Bar' in the village where the weapon and rounds were found.
“On arrival, an identifiable male of mixed race ethnicity was standing in front of the bar with a handgun in his right hand. As the ranks were approaching, the suspect jumped over a fence with the suspected firearm in his hand and ran in an eastern direction.”
A search for the suspect was unsuccessful, however, one rank recovered “a pink cap that the suspect was wearing and in it was a metal object, suspected to be a .38 firearm with serial number removed.”
Ranks took possession of the firearm and returned to the Leonora Police Station where the firearm and ammunition were placed into two transparent self sealed evidence bags which were marked, sealed and lodged.
