Last evening, President Irfaan Ali attended a dinner meeting hosted by the US Congressional Black Caucus in Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C where his leadership was praised.

To formally acknowledge his remarkable leadership, the Guyanese Head of State was presented with a Certificate of Congressional Recognition by Congress Woman for Texas, Sheila Jackson Lee.

“What I see in you is the kind of leadership that can go into many doors around the world…So it is my pleasure to be able to ensure you are well recognised,” Lee told President Ali as she presented him with the certificate.

The certificate recognises President Ali’s leadership and his commitment towards upholding a democratic society.

Over the years, several leaders have continuously praised President Ali for his leadership.

Meanwhile, Congressman and Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, Gregory Meeks says the meeting was a “very important and good meeting.”

The President in the past days has been in Washington, DC for talks with high level officials on ways the Guyana-United States relationship can be further strengthened.

One of the major landmarks of this trip was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Guyana and the Export- Import (EXIM) Bank, US. The MOU paves way for the financing of projects outside of the oil and gas sector at a sum of US $2B.
