Razor blades, improvised weapons among items found during Lusignan Prison raid

On Saturday, a raid of the Lusignan Prison by ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) and the Guyana Prison Service (GPS) unearthed improvised weapons and other contraband items.


According to the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), the raid was conducted between 06:15h and 08:30h and was headed by Deputy Police Commander for Regional Division 4 'C' Superintendent Keithon King.


The following items were found: nine cellphones, 10 improvised weapons, seven razor blades, one charger head, two phone batteries, three pairs of scissors, five lighters, and a metal spoon.


Additionally, a black plastic parcel containing a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems suspected to be cannabis was found on the southern side of the prison compound. When weighed, it totalled 72 grams, the CCU said.
