Repeated offender remanded to prison after wounding man over stolen glass door

A 26-year-old repeated offender was remanded to prison for wounding a man over an alleged stolen glass door.
Tishaun Mc Kenzie of Tucville Housing Scheme appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The charge stated that on January 19th, 2022, with the intent to commit murder, he wounded Robert Samaroo.
Reports are that on the day in question, the victim was at his home when the accused went to the victim to uplift a sliding glass door that he had stolen from his grandmother and gave to the victim to keep.
A heated argument ensued between the two, and the accused armed himself with a piece of wood and dealt the victim a lash to his head and several lashes around his body, after which he made good his escape.
The matter was then reported to the police, and the defendant was arrested and later admitted to the offense.
The prosecutor objected to bail, noting that Mc Kenzie is a repeated offender and that he is a flight risk given that he was in hiding since committing the act.
He was remanded to prison and is scheduled to make another court appearance on February 15, 2022.
