Security arrangements in place for Elections COI- Administrator

With the Commission of Inquiry into the events of the March 2, 2020, General and Regional elections set to begin work on November 3, potential witnesses are assured that no effort to ensure their safety and security is being spared.

These assurances come from COI Administrator, Colonel Ronald Hercules and Secretary to the Commission Javed Shadick, who spoke recently with the Department of Public Information.

“We’re totally set; all security arrangements are in place to have a very safe environment for the inquiry,” Colonel Hercules explained.

Meanwhile, witnesses who may have concerns about their personal security are invited to share their concerns ‘up front’ so arrangements can be made to address them.

According to Secretary Shadick, he is “certain that arrangements will be placed for those persons”.

The Commission, which will be housed at 95 Middle Street in Georgetown, will be carried out in a courtroom setting. Persons who would like to participate can contact the office on 231-9820 or 231-9828.

Chairperson, Attorney-General, High Court Judge, and acting Justice of Appeal in the Eastern Caribbean, Godfrey P. Smith, S.C, Retired Justice of Appeal, Stanley John, and former Chancellor of the Judiciary (ag), Carl Singh, are the members of this COI.
