Sexual assault allegations against Dharamlall under “active investigation” – Police

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Monday confirmed that former Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Nigel Dharamlall is under “active investigation” in connection with a report of sexual assault.

In a brief statement, the GPF said that Crime Chief Wendell Blanhum has indicated that the alleged victim made a formal report to Police at the Cove and John Police Station.

These developments follow a press conference held by the victim last week, where she accused Dharamlall of sexually assaulting her. It is noteworthy that these new allegations emerged a year after he faced accusations of raping a schoolgirl.

In response to these allegations, Dharamlall issued a statement on Friday denying what he described as “malicious” accusations made by the woman.
