-For cyber bullying offence
Opposition Member of Parliament,Sherod Duncan today appeared before Justice Judy Latchman at the Diamond Magistrate Court where he was released on $200,000 bail for a cyber bullying crime.
It is alleged that during Duncan’s popular online talk show 'in the ring' he made derogatory comments towards the Information Technology Manager of the Guyana Election’s Commission Aneal Giddings.
Giddings last Wednesday filed a report to the police which alleged that Duncan referred to him as a "trench crappo" and "jaggabat" which caused him humiliation and emotional distress.
Duncan was represented by Attorneys-at-Law, Nigel Hughes, Khemraj Ramjattan, Amnza Walton –Desir and Narissa Leander.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecution team objected to bail, however Justice Latchman rejected their request to place Duncan on remand and instead granted him bail.
He was placed initially on $275,000 dollars bail, but that was reduced to $200,000 after his Attorneys argued that he had already been placed on station bail valued at the sum of $100,000.
The Opposition Member of Parliament is expected to make his next court appearance on the 10th February, 2021.
This is a developing story and we will bring you the details as it unfolds.
