Sophia man accused of robbing Chinese national remanded


Remanded: Fitzroy Easton

Fitzroy Easton, a 43-year-old resident of Lot 755 ‘D’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown, who is accused of robbing a Chinese national on the West Bank of Demerara, has been remanded to prison.


Police report that Easton, who is unemployed and allegedly armed with a weapon, robbed Zhou Jia Bin on September 26, 2024, at West Minister of two cell phones and $600,000 in cash.


After allegedly committing the offence, the 43-year-old escaped and was only captured on October 25.


He was hauled before Magistrate Rhondel Weever in the Wales Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to him.


The Administration of Justice Act was applied, and the charge was reread to him. He pleaded not guilty and was remanded to prison until December 09, 2024, for statements.
