Sophia man in serious condition following stabbing at Turkeyen

Shaquille Leacock, 24, of ‘C’ Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown, is in a serious condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was allegedly stabbed by two men at Turkeyen on Tuesday.

The Guyana Police Force (GPF), in a statement, said that the incident occurred at about 17:30h.

According to the Police, an eyewitness said she saw Leacock sitting on a culvert when the two suspects chased him.

“One of the suspects, who was armed with a knife, dealt the victim one stab to his abdomen and one to his left thigh. The victim ran out of the yard and collapsed. The men then made good their escape,” Police said.  

The victim was seen lying in a semi-unconscious state and was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he is receiving treatment.

“Checks were made for the suspects but without success. Investigations are ongoing,” Police concluded in the statement.
