Squash Association aims to attend several international events in 2022
The Guyana Squash Association is planning to field teams for a number of high level international tournaments later this year.
Squash players are eagerly competing locally in preparation for selection and participation in a number of global high level events later this year.
The first international event on this year’s calendar is the Junior Caribbean Championships, slated for July.
Guyana has been declared as hosts for this.
Dejé Dias, Chairman of the Guyana Squash Association’s competitions committee added:
“On a more global scale we have commonwealth games, that’s going to be in Birmingham over the summer. We’re going to be sending a team, that selection process is still up in the air. There’s also veteran masters for those veteran players who want to go and compete on an international scale.”
The Birmingham Commonwealth Games begin on July 28th and end August 8th.
The Senior Caribbean Championships follow on August 20th, ending on the 28th.
Local squash players are also hoping to close the year by playing in the Canadian Open and US open slated tentatively for December 12th-16th and 19th-22nd respectively. However, these events are still to be confirmed.
