Stirling, Klaasen and Tahir among Warriors overseas signings for CPL 2022

The Guyana Amazon Warriors have announced their overseas signings for the 2022 Hero Caribbean Premier League, which gets underway on August 31.

The Amazon Warriors have signed Imran Tahir for the fifth consecutive season. Tahir is the record wicket-taker for the franchise with 60 wickets from 43 matches.

Tahir will be joined by fellow South African wrist-spinner Tabraiz Shamsi, who has Hero CPL experience with St Kitts & Nevis Patriots from 2015 to 2018. Shamsi, the number one ranked bowler in T20 Internationals, has 33 wickets at the CPL.

The team’s batting is bolstered with the addition of South Africans Colin Ingram and Heinrich Klaasen and Ireland international Paul Stirling.

Six more spots will be filled at the Hero CPL draft on Thursday.

The Jamaica Tallawahs announced that they would be joined by left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir, Imad Wasim, Sandeep Lamichhane, Chris Green, and Miguel Pretorius – with seven spots left to be filled in the draft.

Quinton de Kock will appear at Hero CPL for the first time with the Barbados Royals alongside fellow South African David Miller, Pakistani batter Azam Khan, Afghan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman and South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch who recently joined the Rajasthan Royals at the India Premier League. The Royals have five more spots to fill at the Hero CPL draft.

Faf du Plessis, Tim David, and David Wiese are all back with the Saint Lucia Kings this year.

St Kitts & Nevis Patriots are the current Hero CPL champions. CPL 2022 gets underway from August 31 to September 30 between the six regional franchises and, for the very first time, three women’s teams.
