Surinamese businessman robbed of leather bag valued US$800 among other items
A Surinamese businessman is now counting his losses after his car was broken into on Thursday night and a number of items were carted off.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) reported that Rakeesh Kalloe, a 53-year-old businessman of Paramaribo, Suriname, and his friend came into Guyana to conduct business. At the time, they were using a motor vehicle owned and driven by Kalloe.
According to the GPF, the businessman parked his vehicle on High Street in the vicinity of Umana Yana, and he and his friend went into the Pegasus Hotel and had dinner.
“On completion at about 23:00 hours, they returned to the motor vehicle when it was observed that the back window glass was broken,” a press release from the GPF stated.
Upon checking, he found his brown leather bag valued at US$800, which contained one vaccination paper, one black wallet valued at €$50, one entrance visa, one silver grey Lenovo laptop valued at €$800, and one bottle Hennessey valued at US$70 were missing.
The businessman made a report to the Police and an investigation was launched.
